📚What ideas or things around you sparked your latest book?

My latest book, ‘A New Start at the Happily Ever After Bookshop’, is about London based single mum, Carrie, who takes over running her aunt’s romance bookshop in the Cornish seaside town Castle Cove for the summer.

My book ideas usually start with the heroine, but I think every book lover dreams of running a really beautiful bookshop, even if the reality would be a bit of a nightmare! Daydreaming about doing just this is what inspired the story, which will now be a four book series.

📚What’s one moment in the book that made you emotional while writing it?

I always get a little emotional writing the epilogues that I often have at the end of my books. It’s lovely to get to imagine how my characters are doing after some time has passed from their happily ever after, and it’s a good opportunity to confirm for the reader how meant to be my hero and heroine are.

📚Do you plot everything out or let the story surprise you as you go?

I’ve been working on becoming more of a plotter. I thought I was a plotter, but I really wasn’t and I’d always get stuck around the 15k mark and I realised I was making things unnecessarily difficult for myself. My friend Thomas J Bellezza has a fantastic book available called ‘The 27 Plot Point Outline’. I now use a tweaked version of this method, and it’s made a huge difference.

📚How would you pitch your book in one sentence to a new reader?

A heartwarming, small-town romance full of second chances, found family, and cosy bookshop vibes.
